Your kitchen is a place that you spend a lot of your time, and since it is, you should ensure that your kitchen is completely functional. One way to make it more functional is by organizing your kitchen so that items are easily accessible and tidy.

If you find yourself reaching up high to find items, digging through cupboards or drawers or moving things a lot to get to other things, you may not have the most ideal organizational skills and order in your kitchen.

This will cost you more time, but in the long run, organizing your kitchen will pay off big by saving you time down the road. This is a common feeling across the area, and one that you cannot ignore. You might have a clean kitchen, but the more organized it is, the more you’ll feel good about using it on a daily basis.

Tips to help when Organizing your Kitchen

De-cluttering is one of the best ways to go about organizing any room of the home. This is due to the fact that when you have less, you feel better. By removing items that you no longer need or use, you’re making space for additional items, and making it easier for you to find them later. Go through each cupboard, drawer, the counters and shelves. Don’t miss a spot!

Group similar items in the same area. This is a common one, and one you might already do. You will want the plates, bowls and other items together, neatly tucked away in a cupboard. The same goes for many of the utensils and cooking utensils.

While grouping may be the way to go for many items, separating is also a way to go for those items that shouldn’t be placed inside the drawer. Taking the sharp knifes away from the silverware ensures that no ones fingers are cut while trying to find items inside the drawer.

Dedicate areas for the other things that happen in your kitchen. If children come into the room to do their homework, then you might want to dedicate a drawer or cupboard for these items that they use while they’re in the area. If you host coffee or tea parties in the area, why not have a dedicated coffee area just for this?

Remove the junk drawers from your kitchen. This is to ensure that you push yourself to get rid of items you do not need, but also to provide yourself with more functional space throughout the kitchen.

Organizing your kitchen can be fun, and even a time to get the whole family involved. Make sure to separate any items you’re discarding into a trash pile and a donate pile. There are many people out there that would love to have your unwanted coffee maker, utensils, or tupperware that you just don’t use anymore!
